The paper industry is an innovative sector that produces a multitude of products that everyone comes into contact with on a daily basis. After all, paper is used in countless ways by everyone. Of course, these products must also be transported, either as an end product or as a raw material. We often see our customers transporting cardboard sheets and these are usually provided with straps. The stretch film mainly serves as protection.
In addition, we see a strong development in this segment when it comes to sustainability. AFP can contribute to this with our Katan-Ex Biobased stretch film.
It may seem easy to pack pallets with stretch film. After all, what can go wrong? Unfortunately, more than you might think. Pallets with paper or cardboard are generally complicated, with sharp corners and edges. As a result, these pallets have specific requirements for pallet stability. AFP has developed stretch films especially for this type of pallet. Our people ensure that everything in your packaging process runs smoothly. This gives you the certainty of optimally wrapped pallets at the lowest Total Cost of Ownership.
20% less consumption, 95% less breakage
Katan-Ex Biobased High Performance stretch film is made from renewable raw materials (sugar cane) extracted from the residual flow of sugar production. By using this stretch film you achieve a 90% lower CO2 footprint compared to conventional stretch film.
AFP has over 50 years of experience when it comes to pallet stability and is leader in innovation. We work with the 7 Step Audit Model in which we work towards optimally packaged pallets through a thorough analysis of your process.
The combination of the right High Performance stretch film plus the knowledge of our committed people about your processes and wrapping machine leads to the optimal performance of your wrapping process. We ensure stable pallets and we prevent the film from breaking, which means that the packaging process runs smoothly without delay.
In the Netherlands, we are going to recycle more and more. It’s a good job, you might say, but there’s still room for improvement. Because by no means everything can be recycled. Chris Bruijnes, director of the Knowledge Institute for Sustainable Packaging (KIDV) in The Hague, sees that there is still a world to be gained in the field of packaging too.
The institute advises companies on their packaging, or as Bruijnes himself puts it: “We ensure that the business community is kept informed about sustainable packaging”.

As the person responsible for strategic purchasing, he soon came into contact with AEP, as AFP was then called. “We provide a total package for our customers, and AFP also plays a role in this; wrapping film is an important product group for us. One thing led to another and AFP has been an important partner for us for more than thirty years now, and we do business in a pleasant way in serious volumes, with respect for each other’s interests. We are in the higher segment, with the better quality.”
