Tissue sounds like the perfect product to transport. Soft and firm, light in weight. Yet it is a segment in which we see a relatively large amount of transport damage. A shame, because damaged products can be returned, both for the manufacturer and the retailer, with all the associated costs.
What causes this damage? Because these loads are light in weight, it is often thought that little stretch film is needed, or that the price per kilo is decisive when choosing the stretch film. We would like to show you that this type of load does not require a lot of stretch film, but it does require the right stretch film.
The tissue industry has a number of unique challenges in achieving pallet stability. Tissue products are generally lightweight and therefore the pallet loads are lighter than usual. This makes them sensitive to crush, damage caused by excessive pressure on the load. This can occur when a light pallet is wrapped too tightly.
Careful wrapping of pressure-sensitive pallets therefore requires expertise. We ensure that your products arrive at the end customer without damage. Especially for these loads, we have developed stretch films that can deal with the unique challenges in the tissue industry, so that a high level of stability is achieved without compressing the load.
20% less consumption, 95% less breakage
AFP has more than 50 years of experience in achieving pallet stability and is at the forefront of innovation. We work with the 7 Step Audit model in which we work towards optimally packaged pallets through a thorough analysis of your process.
The combination of the right High Performance stretch film, the knowledge of our employees involved in your processes and winding machines ensures the optimal performance of your winding processes. In this way, we ensure stable pallets and prevent film from breaking, so that the packaging process runs smoothly, without delay. Request your free Quick ScanDoes the term Corner Crush look familiar to you? It sounds quite intriguing, doesn’t it? In fact, it’s a technical term for damaging goods on the corner of a package or box. And this is something we – as AFP – often see in transport and logistics. The main cause of damage to the corners is when a pallet is wrapped too tightly and incorrectly, which causes the film to press too hard on the boxes and damage is caused by the force it exerts on the boxes.
A number of points that come into play when choosing a stretch film supplier: “For me it’s very important to keep the links in the process short. AFP is both a manufacturer and a supplier, which is very interesting for me, because there is no one in between. It is also important that it is a financially stable supplier, with whom I can build up a long-term relationship. And one that has a stable quality and delivery guarantee. What I also value is that the supplier keeps me informed about innovations in the market. AFP regularly comes to me with new ideas, which I find positive.”
